Beauty Tips | My Weekly Beauty Regime

Whether you class yourself as ‘high maintenance’ or not, every girl has some sort of beauty regime they try to stick to each week. I think I am somewhere in-between a beauty obsessed maniac and a lazy tomboy. Sometimes I want to try every beauty hack in the book, other times I can hardly be bothered washing my hair. So let me tell you my favourite beauty tips, I might even save you some money in the process!

Over the years I have learnt that the most expensive products aren't necessarily the best. I used to spend every penny I had on the latest beauty products that were in the magazines, only to end up extremely disappointed with the results. Now, I buy the majority of the products I use on eBay, and hardly any of them are branded. I have been converted to the natural life, it’s all about the natural compressed oils in my opinion.

Coconut Oil is one of my holy grail products, I pretty much use it for everything. I take my makeup off with it every night, I can’t remember the last time I bought makeup wipes. I exfoliate my whole body once a week to erase dead skin cells, using exfoliating gloves and you guessed it..Coconut Oil. I also put it on my feet every night, this prevents the skin on my heels from hardening. Last not but not least, I use my Hola Coco Coconut Oil Hair Mask three times a week, I have never known anything to improve the condition of my hair like it. I created a product ten times better than anything else on the market, and it’s probably half the price of any hair treatment you can buy by a market leading brand.

I have just turned 25, which according to the internet means I am now getting old and should start using anti ageing products. Eeeek! I do agree that any preventative measures are a good idea, especially if you made the most of your teens like me. Late nights, drinking, smoking - they all take a toll on our skin and its youthfulness.

My top two anti ageing skin oils are Jojoba Oil and Rosehip Oil. Both are amazing, but for different reasons. Rosehip Oil has incredible healing properties, any scars won’t stand a chance if you use this on them regularly. Jojoba Oil has antibacterial properties that fight off problem skin, so you can wake up to a clearer complexion every morning from now on. Both oils are 100% natural with no added nasty ingredients, and studies have proven that they roll back the years.

I find the best way to apply them is on a cotton wool pad, to clean skin after removing my makeup. I usually alternate between the two throughout the week. Applying a small amount before my makeup in the morning helps me achieve that ‘dewy’ look too. That’s the reason I’ve fallen in love with virgin oils, they are multifunctional. Not only are they an overnight natural face mask, but they can also be used as a daytime moisturiser.

Getting out of bed in the morning is hard enough as it is, yet after a bad nights sleep it’s virtually impossible. I sometimes struggle with my sleeping habits, but I recently found my saviour for tired puffy morning eyes. I read about collagen eye masks in an article and thought I would investigate on my best friend eBay. They ranged in price but all seemed pretty similar, so I chose one of the more reasonable ones. At £3.99 for a packet of ten you can’t really complain can you! I wasn't expecting a miracle but I was presently surprised when I tried them out, I felt completely rejuvenated ready for a day at work. I don't use them every day, just when I feel necessary. I have noticed they have improved the appearance of dark circles around my eye area, which is an added bonus too!

Next, my oral hygiene. Most people, whether it be a man or a woman want whiter teeth. However, it’s quite difficult to achieve that natural looking white smile without taking it too far and ending up looking like Ross from Friends! Every time I visited the dentist I asked him if I could have my teeth whitened, he always refused saying they were white enough. So I took the matter into my own hands.

I did a little research, mainly on Instagram and Facebook this time, and came across AP24 Whitening Toothpaste by NuSkin. The before and after pictures impressed me so I thought I would give it a whirl! You can buy the product from a NuSkin representative, but I found it easier to just buy mine on eBay. I pay £9.99 for a tube that lasts me and my partner around two months. So it’s a bit more pricey than your supermarket brands, but nothing extortionate. We have both noticed a massive difference in the colour of our teeth, because we both had some staining from coffee etc. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone wanting a brighter smile.

Last but not least, my final beauty hack is the secret to a plump pout. The latest trend for young girls is lip fillers, I don't have anything against anyone who gets them but I personally never would. I do have naturally big lips any way, but I discovered a product that enhances my pout and also keeps lips feeling soft and smooth.

The Manuka Doctor range is amazing, all the products are made from natural Manuka Honey which has incredible benefits for the skin. I’ve heard fantastic reviews about all their products. I’ve only tried their lip enhancer but I absolutely love it! When applied to the lips a tingling sensation begins and within a couple of minutes your lips feel full. Again, I don't use it every day just when I feel I need a boost.

There you have it, my beauty diary. There are a few other bits I use irregularly, but these are my beauty must haves I use week in week out. I would love to hear about any tips you have for me, I’m always open to trying out new things. Email your weekly beauty regime to me at sophie@hola-coco.com.
